Here In My Home, I'll Tell You What It's All About..

sure, the media is rife with news of more corruption, more petty fights between the leaders of our country, more attempts at brainwashing the slowly-changing society towards anti-political awareness, more BN talks of how and why they were losers in the last GE.

Things like that make me embarrassed of our half-century old country, and it ain't surprising that many people who study overseas do not want to go back. (that, and the horrible exchange rate that we have due to, well, rather, questionable decisions by our leaders *koffkoff*NEP)

I've always stayed far far away from political issues, choosing instead to focus on happy fluffy un-controversial things:) (okay maybe my avoidance of the topic is due to my ignorance of it, but no matter..). My country is changing, without me in it. Pavilion has developed, and BN has lost the 2/3 majority they've had for ages...all in the year or so that I've gone. (heck the most controversial thing that has happened in Coventry are the postal strikes sheesh)

BUT, occasional bouts of loyalty and patriotism hit me at random times ie. while halfway through the 'but for' test in causation. The video I watched sparked a fuzzy warmth deep within my-stressed-almost-into-cardiac-arrest-due-to-exams heart..and reminded me that Malaysia is n't all about politics and who-should-get-what in economics; its also about the semangat muhibbah and the multi-cultural society that we have always been so proud of. Watch it, and I hope you feel just as warm as I do now.

I miss home terribly, especially after watching this vid. I'm glad I have a home to go back to:)

Sigh, Malaysia Tanah Airku.

Jurisprudence ala Gossip Girl

H: Like, there will be a rule of like, recognition, which is like OMG THEEE ruulee, and anything that like, goes against it, is like, soooo not part of the law..

D: Uh, Puh-lease. That is like, soo not true. Such "ollldddd" ways of thinking dear H. Like, what about principles and like, policies. OOMG youre so stupid like Gosh. Uh. Principles? and like Policies? are what makes the law LAW u kneeoww...

H: WHatEVS, D. It's not like I said like they're like not THEREE or anything, it's like, if you could JUST LIKE CHILL and be a little more CHILLED about like, THEE rule of like, recognition, you'd realise that like, gee, people do accept principles. LIKE, read my book uh. YEAH, i am like, smart enough to like, write a book. *duh*

D: But, like, you're forgetting about how you said that like, judges have their OWN personal judgment in like, courts. you kneeoww? I think thats like..total BEE ESSS like how could you even THINK that. They look at principles too u kneow.. like that case, uh, Riggs v Palmer, where like the killer, like he couldnt get the money from his inheritance cuz like, he killed like, his mom or something. The court like said, nobody can gain from their like, wrong.

H: *flicks hair* Yeah, just like how you wanna kill YOUR mom for like, your money rightt??

D: OMGOSH H, DONT SAY THATT!!

H: Yeah anyway...I can't believe you put your crush into your like, theory. that's like sooooo high school. I mean, Hercules?? Pleaseeeee, men like that don't exist. How can you say that they, like, are, like, THE judge when it comes to, like, getting the ONE RIGHT ANSWER??

D: I think Hercules is soooo hawwtt. I kneow he doesn't existt, but that doesnt mean I , like, can't dream right? The Principles and like Policies are like, there, and as long as THEY exist, IM RIGHT, YOURE..HMM.....let's see...WRRRONGGG.

H: OMG I don't believe you. You won't even let me win even though I've gone and died....BITCH.

D:....Bitch you tooo.

No, seriously.

While the conversational styles of 'D' and 'H' are fictitious, the arguments are very much real. And what I have been studying for the past hour.

Fellow Jurisprudence students, shoot yourself if you do not know who D and H are.

Hmm... in retrospect, this is a good way of remembering what I've learnt; re-type them out Gossip Girl style...

Sigh, Zyang thinks I've gone mad, typing in three characters (ie. D, H, and me) lol.

I think I have tooooo...

lol.

Some things you never appreciate...

Some things you never think of, hardly crosses your mind.. but remains in the heart of someone.

It might seem like I don't care, but I do.

I don't show it much, true. And for some, Im totally insensitive..

But I do care.

look MA!! look what i foundd!!*

little weird things serve to brighten up your day..however little.

woke up this morning /afternoon feeling uber stressed about the exams and the *non* studying for it...

was greeted with a too hot sun (yes it's too hot for UK. i wouldve welcomed it if i wasnt bundled up in a winter coat)when i ventured outside for a trip to tescos..phreaking far in shoes that hurt ur ankles peh.

pottered around tesco's for the usual stuff, chicken..yadda yadda..feeling very sien with life...when......

i was sitting outside tesco's on one of the benches when my eyes fell upon a blue book with a bright orange stick-it note on it. it said "please open and read. FREE BOOK"

being the bookworm that i am, and having the irresistable urge to open the mysterious (and rather old looking) clothbound book, i slid over and turned the page gingerly..(whatt..how am i supposed to know...what if its a trigger for some bomb??)

oooohh..

how interesting... this book (one of many) has been "set into the wild" to travel across the world for anyone who would like a read, or a part in sending the book around ie. spreading knowledge.

unfortunately the book i "caught" has a rather boring subject..must have been sent out by some economist.."electricity, public or private monopoly" *drifts off back into mr mohan's tuition classes ahemm "you seeee here gul, u know what im saying o not when the AD curveeee.."* so i will not be reading it..hehe but i will be sending it quite far away...

as im going to Poland for the summer!!! the parents are coming over after exams and theyre dragging me to all the places in europe tht theyve never been to before... (hence the not so popular holiday destination)

oh an interesting note: the organization doing this book thing is international, so i thought, why not check whether malaysia is listed.. i doubted it though, since malaysia is not exactly known for book-lovers, and anyone who saw anything free would keep it for themselves and not leave it around, and even if they did leave it around, some stray dog would have taken it into its home and pretended it was it's child or smth wth.

but surprise surprise, amongst other countries, malaysia fares pretty well, 157 books! not bad for a country that is not as book-savvy as, say the US or the UK. but then again maybe im just being prejudiced lol.

so, guys! IF YOU SEE A RANDOM BOOK LYING SOMEWHERE... (esp those of you in UK(7907), US(14767), and AUSTRALIA(1744))do pick it up, register it, and release it somewhere else!!

haha i dunt know why this cheered me up, but knowing that people out there do share a love for books in this creative way..just makes me feel so warm and fuzzy. truly, without books i wouldnt be half as talkative as i am now (nothing to talk about what, unless u count gossip and talking about malaysian dreamgirl or smth)

it would be even better if there was a charity going on behind these books, like maybe some big company will donate a pound for every 100 miles or so it has travelled. imagine how much theyd have to pay if i took this book back to malaysia!!

hmm.good idea eyy.so any sponsors??;)

BookCrossing

click the link! if youre really bored you can go book hunting and catch the book somewhere on the city streets, in a bar, in a shopping mall, in a tram..anywhere!

wheeee.

ok. study.

=.=

enz

*edit: APPARENTLY zhiyang found it, so technically i was telling a lie when i said i found it. im forced to correct the mistake.*sigh*

::On the sea::

It keeps eternal whisperings around
Desolate shores, and with its mighty swell
Gluts twice ten thousand Caverns, till the spell
Of Hecate leaves them their old shadowy sound.
Often 'tis in such gentle temper found,
That scarcely will the very smallest shell
Be mov'd for days from where it sometime fell,
When last the winds of Heaven were unbound.
Oh ye! who have your eye-balls vex'd and tir'd,
Feast them upon the wideness of the Sea;
Oh ye! whose ears are dinn'd with uproar rude,
Or fed too much with cloying melody -
Sit ye near some old Cavern's Mouth, and brood
Until ye start, as if the sea-nymphs quir'd!
